  • Whats all the hype over Hulkenberg all of a sudden. He has raced in F1 for over 11 years and hasn’t done much not even a single podium. So he has a race where he gets on the car (not the first time in this car) which everyone says it’s 3-4 best in the field and races at a track he knows like the back of his hand and everyone is like wow he went from last to eighth. Nothing remarkable folks. People seem to have forgotten how average he has been the past ten years or so.

  • I like today as it looks like you you have decided not to condemn Lewis Hamilton for things that are not his fault. I am glad that you talked about the everyday issues. As far as we all want close racing, we can't blame Lewis if others are behind or are we going to blame Mercedes. We also don't want FIA to decide how the race is going to finish by punishing one that doesn't merit it or using safety car to slow down. You have to. Realize that FIA with their stewards are not fair to some people.

  • For me obviously perez is such better then hulk. Let me give you some data 3 years together in force india Checo:4 podiums Hulk:0 In that year hulk really had a good car because his teammate made 4 podiums Being 10 years in f1 and don't get a single podium is not just about bad luck or a bad car, is about the driver.

  • How about this: red bull give hulk/perez a contract BUT only for a year, like bottas. That is a symbol to gasly that they want him to take over eventually, giving him more time to grow and build even more and red bull can double check his credentials. It's also the opportunity of a lifetime for hulk or perez, and they're unlikely to turn down any contract they get so they'd be fine with a year, and gives them the chance to continuously earn that seat

    ImK4OsImK4Osमहीने पहले
  • Agree on Albon, but one thing which has been confusing me about the talk of who gets the Red Bull seat is this preference of Hulkenberg over Perez. This has been happening with fans but also now seems to be creeping into media, with Tommy stating his preference for Hulkenberg. Surely when choosing between two drivers who have been teammates you evaluate them against each other in those years. Perez came out on top twice (2015 + 2016, Hulkenberg once in 2014, Perez comes out on top on overall points, also during that period Perez scored 4 podiums to Nico's 0, counter-point is that Hulkenberg outqualified Perez over the three year period 35-24 but of course points is what matters and with the current gap between 2nd and 3rd quickest car, Perez's slight underperformance in qualifying may still put him P4 on grid most races. I would also to point out that Matt said Hulkenberg always "won f1.5" by finishing 7th every year, Nico was 7th once (2018), Checo 7th twice (2016, 2017). I just don't understand, on data and track records why Nico is spoken about first in this conversation, let's also not forget Perez has just had back to back 4th places so is also on great form. I do rate Nico and really hope he has a F1 seat next year but if that Red Bull seat is available then it surely, popularity aside, should go to Sergio Perez.

    HypnosHypnosमहीने पहले
  • I think Red Bull should put Perez or Hulkenberg in the 2nd seat for a 1 year contract, but Albon in Alpha Tauri alongside Gasley, then re-evaluate their options going into 2022 with Tsunoda going into Alpha Tauri. It's a shame to see a nice guy like Kvyat be dropped, but I don't think he's ever going to be a race winner

  • Don't agree. Hulk has 2 operation modes. 1. Hero mode, when he go up in position until being 5 th. 2. Fear mode, when he is up in position, 5 th or better , when he is scared not to make a mistake and ruin the result. Usually this is what happens. Red bull needs Pérez who is equally quick but doesn't have the fear mode which affects Hulk. Actually I believe Pérez is better than Vettel in this particular moment. And is the only one who is not pissed off by Max performance.

  • Regarding Lando's podium chances, before he suffered his engine issues, he was comfortably holding Perez at 1.5 seconds. After Lando started drifting back but before he retired and brought out the safety car, Perez was catching Ricciardo at a decent pace. The safety car cause by Lando gave Ricciardo a cheap second pitstop and that saved his race. Without that I think its a relatively easy podium for Lando.

  • Yes Hulkenberg is a really capable driver but I think people are being a little blind and the way the fans think of him its becoming a bit overrated. Again, we know Hulk is good but if I had to suggest someone to take Albons seat is Sergio Perez, who has shiwn throughout the years that he can be better than Hulk in the same car. Perez is not really that much talked about and I think its because he doesnt really have a showy or charismatic personality that the fans can be entertained with, but his driving skills should be praised more than what they are now because he is one of the most reliable and most consistent drivers on the grid.

  • What about only allowing one type of tyre on the practice sessions. Say you can only drive the medium tyre, teams will still want that data, but don't know what the hard is like, or how long the soft runs. Timing pit stops will become more of a gamble, and qualifying gets better too, because the most adaptive drivers will quickly get the softs under control

  • I am an huge vettel fan, the car is shitty, but vettel isnt performing at all in it too, he deserves bad grades as you are giving them, keep it up, for me i just dont care about how good he shows off, because he is just tired of that team, ferrari is kind of a team that makes huge mistakes in strategies, and a team that doesnt know how to take the lead when a driver has to take care of its own strategy shows something, and it has happen multiple times. The ferrari team needs changing and vettel is just done with it.

  • Take Tommy's idea and make Friday a standalone event. Have the morning be a practice session so drivers can get running time on the circuit and the afternoon a sprint race that doesn't factor into the championship standings. The catch is all Friday running can only be done on the C1 compound tires, or inter/wets if needed. (Yes, tire rule would even apply to junior drivers running in morning practice sessions) Saturday is one normal practice session followed by quali. Race on Sunday.

  • The lineup Red Bull should go with: Red Bull: Verstappen and Perez Alpha Tauri: Albon and Gasly Get an experienced driver and proven multi-podium scorer (and I do think Hulkenburg would be a valid option, but Perez is a better driver imo) to back up Verstappen. Get all the info you need by evaluating Albon and Gasly as teammates. Give Tsunoda a shot at the F2 title once Schumacher and Illott are out of the way, prevents Red Bull burning through juniors too quick as they have before, having Tsunoda in reserve rather than pushing him to F1 immediately seems a smarter play. The all-round best strategy imo.

  • It's not the Red Bull 2nd seat that has a fundamental problem, it's that Max's driving style is so unique and so extreme (and being their 1st driver Red Bull have naturally built the car around Max's driving style) probably most drivers would find it extremely difficult. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if, assuming either Checo or Hulk get the seat, they would suffer to a similar degree to Alex and Pierre. Not taking anything away from those 4 drivers, they're all obviously very talented, but I wouldn't be surprised to see them struggle as well

    Ethan CattonEthan Cattonमहीने पहले
  • Red Bull need a driver who will accept being a number 2, and that's why Checo and Hulk are ideal because they're relatively old now, they know they'd get beaten by Max but would kill for a Red Bull seat, even if it would mean having fewer upgrades and occasionally having to let Max through
