  • Why wouldn't anyone ask "Where will I use/when would I ever need ... in real life?" question about Literature or Geography? This is asked only about Math because math is definitive (black and white about rights and wrongs) and demanding (you really need to work at it to be called 'good' at it). Personally, I have a feeling that people ask this question about math simply because they are too lazy or unwilling to learn. But that's just ranting, here's my actual take on it: medium.com/@megha.sridharmurthy/when-will-i-ever-need-pythagoras-another-honest-response-251a3e670cb9 Thanks! :)

  • You need it all. Algebra, Pythagoras, derivatives depending on the career you choose. But on majority, you needs STATISTICS. Problem is that stats is not taught in early days. The small shopkeeper trying to see which product is selling out the most uses 'frequency distribution' without even realising it. But that's just extinct from basic primary education. Anyone wanting to argue, I'm all game. And yes, I'm flexing that I'm the top 1% of this country because internet is sucker for validation.

  • A teacher here, I really liked the debate. Yes the Education system is screwed and there are lot of inefficient teachers but there are lot of good ones too and we are underpaid and overworked. The system keeps changing everything to benefit students but hardly any training for the teachers. There is no motivation to do better so lot of teachers have become comfortable doing less and have become mechanical. Also, Educators in India are disrespected and least important, nobody takes this job seriously and that is the problem. We keep listening that we work for less number of hours but we do so much preparation for our classes. There is no work life balance and the management is mostly shitty and won't value you. I do this job because I love my class room time with my students. I love to interact with them and it gives me happiness to teach them, to make them question. I m trying to create a better future.

    • Man i can feel u, almost ppl in this country was always selfish that's how the vicious cycle turns to be. We only think of our benefit, thats all, but we always forget that only bring more and more problem. Teachers paid less, student screwed more, then that student turn a teacher who even do worse (not always) but that's how it is 😭😕

      sapan singhsapan singh16 दिन पहले
    • Absolutely! I resonate with this to the fullest. The profession is most misunderstood and teachers are underpaid for the amount of work that goes into it. The only thing that keeps us doing what we do is coz we love what we do. Barely any other sense of motivation to carry on.

  • Finland's education system was actually considered the best for quite a few years and a few things that I personally like about it are: 1. Education is free. You don't have to pay fees in fact, it's illegal for any school to collect fees in any form from the parents. Due to the no-fee law there are hardly any private schools. 2. All children attend public schools, which are funded by the government through taxes. And because all parents want their children to get a good education, almost everybody pays taxes. 3. There is almost no homework given. 4. There are some qualifications set for being a teacher and if you want to become a teacher in Finland, it cannot be your plan-B. 5. Children are encouraged to spend most of their time outdoors. 6. Children are taught EVERYTHING. Besides the subjects that we have here in India, they also teach children cleaning, cooking, baking, farming, gardening, sports, music, dance, art, literature, etc. 7. Children are made to do volunteer work (such as helping in running the school canteen). All in all, India needs to learn a LOT when it comes to education system.

    Anjor DeshpandeAnjor Deshpande3 महीने पहले
    • @Sahil Shah Agree, but if you pick a topic that largely has obvious impact in society, you need to be careful of what you say.. I can see teenagers and college kids being influenced by these opinions, as they are at an impressionable age. Or, you can pick a non-impact topic and go all out... like the food one with Sumukhi and Kaneez... that was so much fun to watch... nirmal anand 😂

      Sahil ShahSahil Shah3 महीने पहले
    • Also, where we apply concepts depends on what you choose to do in life when you grow up. And you can't 'start' to learn concepts when you study your chosen specialty, that's the time to apply them. And childhood is biologically the best time to learn, everything. It sets the foundation.

    thiruvettithiruvetti3 महीने पहले
    • @Shruti Koli What an irrelevant question. I was questioning their one-sided narrative of history. A comedian is supposed to be neutral, but these guys are just riding the wave!

      thiruvettithiruvetti20 दिन पहले
    • 3000 crores on a statue. 900 crores on "goshalas". If you dont want to see "typical comic" behaviour, you kinda need the politics you support to actually try and develop this country instead of keeping people uneducated and making statues to instill a sense of fake patriotism in them.

Right?? 😉😉 This is one of the reason we need to read the right history and not just believe Neville because he appears well read! Most of our NCERT history is just BS written by Leftists to program the kids a certain way deriving most information from British and other foreign historians. Ofcourse they took what suited their narrative! 😉

    • @thiruvetti god dude, you spotted one sentence that neville said but you couldn't focus when aadar said that you need to research your history on your own. Coming to the second part of your comment, is it because of the nationalism of Patriot IT cell members that they remain uneducated because "leftists" wrote our textbooks😂. It was there in 2011-2012 (was there previously as well); am unaware of current scenario, but that used to be the case!
