    • @Lincoln Description I've said it before and will say it again. Lewis is a great driver but the last 7 years with Mercedes he has raced against some of the weakest competition I have seen in 20 years of watching f1. If he had to competed in Michael's era with Williams, McLaren, Renault, and Ferrari all being relevant for wins and championships it would be a different story.

    • @Cletus Spuckler Yes he can. Read this: en.espn.co.uk/ferrari/motorsport/story/177315.html You are just randomly prioritizing one skill set over another one. So because Alonso and Lewis have less sensitivity and ability to setup a car, that counts against Kimi? Nope. Because Kimi is a genius when it comes to car setup and development. Kimi has a level of sensitivity to the car I've NEVER seen in modern F1 - his Alfa race engineer literally said Kimi could easily become a phenomenal engineer in F1 recently. It's not Kimi's fault if a team isn't competent enough to give him his highly specific demands - more than any other driver, Kimi knows EXACTLY what he wants. Legend has it that the great Tazio Nuvolari could feel what every wheel was doing on the car at any time - this is EXACTLY the kind of sensitivity Kimi has. It's what makes him so untouchable when the car is setup for him. A god. Read this little excerpt by Mark Slade: www.reddit.com/r/KimiRaikkonen/comments/ipqjw7/mark_slade_talks_about_kimis_mastery_of_the/

    • @Hotstepper Read everything below - YOU are low IQ and don't know a thing about F1. If you did know you'd realize Raikkonen on the MICHELIN tyre was the fastest driver since Senna as Brundle insinuates here: www.reddit.com/r/KimiRaikkonen/comments/fx3amt/martin_brundle_compares_kimi_to_senna_in_terms_of/ Kimi comfortably beat Massa to a title and all the drivers who had used Bridgestone pre 2007 were MASSIVELY flattered in 2007 and 2008 since the tyre war ended at the end of 2006. Kimi had to switch to a new team and NEW TYRES at the end of 2006 (Michelin left F1). Kimi had been used to only driving on Michelins, so again this massively flattered Lewis and MASSA who looked like TRASH before and after 2007 and 2008. I wonder why? Oh I just told you. On top of that in 2008 Kimi had massive setup issues with the car as Ferrari consultant Schumacher explains here: streamable.com/fiae33 Kimi also talks about how annoying the tyre switch was for him here: www.reddit.com/r/KimiRaikkonen/comments/i9r7or/kimi_talks_about_the_switch_from_michelin_to/ Then in 2014, 2015 and 2017, Kimi had massive setup issues again with the car, so it flattered Seb, read him saying the cars in 2020 feel normal to him again: www.racefans.net/2019/04/07/f1-v6-hybrid-turbos-now-feel-like-v8-cars-raikkonen/ Raikkonen is one of the all time greats, and I put him above Alonso at their peaks. Easily.

      Ciaron SmithCiaron Smithमहीने पहले
    • @Ciaron Smith kimi, kimi, Kimi..always over rated, and time as proved it!.. you don't know a thing about F1, he couldn't even compete with Massa, or Vettel.

      HotstepperHotstepperमहीने पहले
    • @Ciaron Smith A driver who's too sensitive to car setup cannot be put in the same league as Hamilton and Alonso no matter how good or impressive his peak may have been. I have no doubt in my mind that a *washed up* Alonso could come back to Ferrari and immediatly start outperforming Vettel. The same cannot and will never be said about Kimi. And I'm pretty sure Martin Brundle and Pedro de la Rosa would agree with me.

      Cletus SpucklerCletus Spucklerमहीने पहले
    • @Cletus Spuckler Kimi is faster than Alonso. You are totally clueless and confusing form in different eras with peak performance. I know more about F1 than you can imagine. Alonso lost to Trulli in 2004, and you dare compare him to Kimi at his peak? Kimi was better than Alonso for sure. You are confusing Raikkonen in 2008, 2014, 2015 and 2017, who clearly had massive setup issues with Kimi on the MICHELIN TYRE, who was F1's fastest driver, who mastered the Michelins far beyond the other drivers. By far. Kimi's peak was 2003-2006 in the TYRE WAR. He was a god. You just don't know F1. Read this below, Brundle literally compares Kimi's speed to Senna in that period: www.reddit.com/r/KimiRaikkonen/comments/fx3amt/martin_brundle_compares_kimi_to_senna_in_terms_of/ DeLaRosa talks about Kimi at McLaren: inworlds.info/plus/y8_flIKIZ3nRm7o/v-iy

      Kiss MlunguKiss Mlunguमहीने पहले
    • @Kiss Mlungu take the hybrid stuff off and they are slugs. NA vs NA these new cars can't compare. Slap a hybrid system on the Honda of 04 and it would be almost 1400 hp. The Honda was believed to be over 1000 hp. Some speculated close to 1100. Same as BMW, Mercedes, and Ferrari. And give the 2004 cars the same tires and downforce they would be undrivable due to the G loading. Remember CART at Texas where drivers were almost blacking out from G loads. It would be similar.

  • Raikkonen DESTROYED everyone in the second half of the season, they brought a new suspension for him after this race in France, and his race pace just took off like a rocket. It's almost the the first half of 2007 is irrelevant looking back. Kimi was so obviously the best driver from 2003-2007.

    • Yeah so sad he missed the championship in 2003 and 2005. This man right here should be a 3 time world champion. Imho his pace in 2005 was Godlike.

  • This is instructive to young F1 fans for historical purpose who sometimes post oblivious of facts Hamilton (Rookie) and Alonso (double WDC) as teammates at McLaren. Massa third ahead of Kimi, who would eventuall win the 2007 WDC by a single point in Brasil when Ferrari instructed Massa to give up race position to Kimi. This day was Sebastian Vettel (Red bull) debut and finished in the points(8th) following the retirement of Nico Rosberg (Williams)

    • I really hope young people don't waste their time watching F1. I made the exact same mistake 30 years ago. I was lucky though, I had a few good years of entertainment and watching proper racing. Whatever it is that we watch at weekends now is NOT racing, the sport has become an international embarrassment yet I still waste hours watching quali and the races in the hopes that something moderately interesting might happen, it seldom does. Kids, do yourselves a favour and don't get hooked on this rubbish.

    • If the ENTIRE of McLaren wasn't kissing Lewis's ass from day 1 on the sport (he was with the team in various other forms of motorsport since he was 13 and British, so they had their reasons for doing so, but at a great cost), and if they even slightly tried to be impartial, and IF they hadn't cheated that year with the car, things would be a little bit different. Yes I know, lots of big if's, but these are just some things need to be taken into consideration when salivating over how "good" Lewis supposedly was in his first year in F1.

      Konstantin SembosKonstantin Sembosमहीने पहले
    • @Hugh Barned Räikkönen was fallowing easily Massa before pitstops. Massa had his first and he was pushing as much as he could. The reason was he wanted to stay ahead Räikkönen and show he was faster and so on waiting for the call. Unfortunately, Räikkönen was faster and managed to pull a fabulous lap/laps before his pitstop and passed Massa.

    • @Hugh Barned Wrong. Kimi jumped Massa. Martin Brundle in 2007 said there were NO TEAM ORDERS in Brazil 2007 here is the CLIP: www.reddit.com/r/KimiRaikkonen/comments/fx3amt/martin_brundle_compares_kimi_to_senna_in_terms_of/
