  • Ayrton Senna has been idolized to a level he is almost above criticism, and that's a shame, because even though he was the best he certainly wasn't perfect. It's a fine line between being aggressive and being abusive. And IMO Ayrton Senna was on the wrong side of that line many times, but because he is the hero everyone looks past it. The problem with that kind of behavior is that it makes it into a competition about who is most willing to wreck their car instead of who can find the best line. *To put it in other words: If there was a race between Ayrton Senna and Ayrton Senna, no one would reach the finish line.* And that to me is not the mark of a "tough" driver, it's the mark of an "abusive" driver. It think it's a shame, because he had the skill to win most races without doing this tactic anyway, so when he does it actually subtract from it. In my opinion his driving style has a lot in common with Valentino Rossi(MotoGP).

  • That clip of Lewis getting on the track with his dream f1 car, shows exactly why I love cars and driving. The anticipation, the pure happiness and the surge of excitement and complete euphoria when he finally pulls out onto the track, all of those feelings I can completely empathise with. In that moment, absolutely nothing stands in between him and the road, none of the thousands of problem plaguing the world and human life bother him, just him, the car and the road.

    • @S Willams And what are you doing besides sitting on here and criticizing world class professional racing drivers. Just look at how many lives Senna touched in Brazil and all across the world by simply "Sitting in a chair, turning a wheel and pushing a pedal", that's what really matters at the end of the day.

      Chris JChris J17 दिन पहले
    • @Chris J Yeah, as if car racing counts. Sit in a chair, turn a wheel and push a pedal. Wow. So inspirational. Actually its a sport for morons willing to risk their lives to get a prize. Are they little children who haven't grown up yet? Obviously they are mentally.

      S WillamsS Willams18 दिन पहले
    • @S Willams God put Senna on this Earth to race racing cars, we're all gonna die one day, but Senna's name will live on for a long time to come because of what he did with his short life, that's what really counts.

      Chris JChris J19 दिन पहले
    • @S Willams @S Willams I love the typical way you try to undermine how advanced F1 cars are by calling them "metal boxes", it was his whole life and his nephew continues to do the same. The reason your car (assuming you're not too scared to get in one) is so safe is thanks to F1, respect them. Merry Christmas.

      JΛMΛJΛMΛ22 दिन पहले
    • @JΛMΛ I kind of doubt that if you could ask him now. As if sitting in a metal box pushing a pedal towards the floor and turning a wheel is living your life to the fullest. Its so pathetic how men are drawn to machinery. It really is a substitution for what they feel missing in their own life.

  • I know a lot of people are paying tribute to Senna. And i agree with them. But what about the car? Is that not the most spectacular piece of machinery ever built? There was something very special about that era of McClaren and Williams that is lost in todays modern cars that have more stuff hanging off them than your grandfathers tackle box. Even Lewis was in awe of the cars appearance.
