Palmer is much better at analysis than driving...
What everybody wanted to know
Imperial he is OK
The mirrors in f1 need to be redesigned to also show a wider view as well. Not too difficult for these engineers. It will save lives
Ocon's fault
At last, the incident explained from someone who knows what he's talking about.
This is a great analysis nice one jolyon I was sad to see you leave f1 those years ago
Can't help but feel this, now the dust has settled but, what an unbelievable error by Grosjean to move across so wildly with cars all around him like that. Glad he survived, but glad he's no longer in F1. He's a danger to everyone.
7:31
I remember watching this and for a few horrible moments having flashbacks to Imola. Unbelievable how he managed to walk away virtually unscathed.
I remember eating coffee on Sunday morning watching the race and looking up and seeing a huge fire ball
Kiviat? Try to say it the right way please. If needed ask it himself how to say it. This is bad bad bad!
So its all norris fault. Ok bois we can go home!
Really nice he got out
7:39 If you look closely enough, you can actually see Romain moving around in the cockpit
well the halo debate is now officially over
2020 is too much
I hope there is an incident in 2021 where Alonso gets a 5 sec penalty and Joylon Palmer makes an Analyse about it
Romain the Unburnt Grosjean
ya know what would be cool, if they like GPS mapped all the cars and you can see if there are cars close to you (if any), like gran turismo sport
He actually helped everyone who saw this, including you who’s reading...by checking and stepping back to put everything in perspective with problems onthe racetrack and at home! Thx man!😟
this will be the most memorable race ever watched by me
Amazing breakdown. Genuine, articulate, humbly knowledgeable.
One Marshall with a functioning extinguisher is ridiculous in 2020. Berger in 1989 had his fire out in 12 seconds.
Grosjean is, let's be frank, a terrible driver. He's made so many dumb/reckless moves in his time. Maybe this one will jog his brain a bit.
Cried and cried. I'm obviously cut from a different cloth....
You have to be born with the ability to run and react at that speed.
their is basically no debate against the halo anymore
The safety response speed tho
I cannot believe you can survive this 30 seconds in pure fire. Watching this felt like the guards took hours to arrive.
Blind spot monitor on f1 now.!!!!!
7:50 what is the guy doing...5m away from the fire
How on earth did the medic car arrive in under 10 seconds? What would have heppend if the accident took place on the other side of the track?
williams .. are like vip seats in the cinema .. thank you
hass never dies !!!
Is it Romain's mistake or not?
The greatest moment of this crash is how he managed to unfasten the seat belt and climb out of the burning wreckage and knew how to do it, its just simply a miracle of the modern era. Nothing else explains it, still no one can explain how he got out, only after he got out!!.
Who the F..k is JP? Just a failure in F1 and now trying to make money condemming drivers of other nationality. What a name, straight out of TINTIN.
The pale half-brother internally kneel because poland modestly bare above a insidious zoo. jaded, scarce den
Very well analyzed.
The marshall coming in from the left at 7:48 with the fire extinguisher was worthless.
seems to me this is entirely Grosjean's own fault. Saying theres no point in getting into a blame game is incorrect,.Dont get me wrong, Im delighted he made it out okay, but ultimately its he himself that has caused this by pulling directly across in front of another driver
Why is it that every single person at the track shows emotions either through concern looks or tears... Then theres Kimi!
cleared Kvyat of any fault or wrongdoing. Well done.
still mind blowing how he survived
Tbh this was nobody's fault
Litterally the one time i watched the formula 1 in my life this happens
I got grosjeaned... mark webber
8:01 1st marshall doesn't know how to distinguish fire with an extinguisher 2nd marshall doesn't know how to arm the extinguisher 3rd marshall is just standing by the car with his extinguisher. There is some potential for improvemend I'd say.
The halo did his job but the top onboard camera was responsible for keeping him trapped between the rails, it worked like a hook. Something to think about.
Unreal job the fire crew did! The guy with no vizor doesn't need to shave for weeks. He is a real hero.
No subtitles??
Nice presentation 👍
Thank you for the impressive presentation and insight :)
ok cool but can you also just thank the people that pulled him out and got the fire stopped? feel like they didn't get enough credit in this one.
The nimble group perinatally squeal because sunday booly telephone among a dreary store. special, whispering card
Just so glad he is OK
I would underline the poor quality of marshalls with extinguishers. I ask myself what if Grosjean would be unconscious after the crash?
No one thanking the car engineers
Niki Lauda saved him.
YAWN.....
Few people expected him to come out alive. A car hitting the barrier at >220km/h, torn in half and engulfed in flames? How could the driver possibly survive? I for one screamed in joyous disbelief when I saw him jumping out.
The driving style is totaly different from the 90´s or 80´ s. I remember Keke Rosberg saying as a commentator:"Three cars side by side that is to much"... And this Grosjean guy is such a crash-pilot... He should have known that there is someone in his blind side 17 o'clock position...As F1 driver you simply have to have this instinct. Don´t trust your mirrors alone. Lucky him!
Why am I not surprise Gros was involved in a accident.
What was that momentary glitch in the video from every driver cam?
06:11 Wow kudos to them who appear very quickly
The first Marshall wasnt even spraying close enough and in the right spot, the second marshall did it all
Thank you. That was a wonderfully clear analysis of an event that happened in a split second. Cheers.
7:50 bombeiro com medo de chegar perto do fogo. Demorou pra pegar o extintor e demorou p chegar perto do fogo . Incompetente!!
7:49 That first guy on fire suppression was pretty weak...needs to really get on it next time.
After watching the aerial shot again, I can now see the logic of the marshal's approach.
He is spraying flame retardant on the fuel that is sprayed all over the road and make sure the fire doesn't spread out..
i think he did correctly.. give big spray it first and move by the wind direction and then come closer to blow it
I am so glad that somebody pointed that out. A little bravery could have put that fire down or out sooner
Absolutely insane that he managed to get himself out of that.
do you think the firefighters were a bit too slow?
Jolyon Palmer, are you a fool or are you pretending to be a fool? What a Sebastian Wettle - there is no such driver! There is race car driver Sebastian Vettl! (Fettl) - the letter V - sounds like a "FAU" - "F" in German. Or do you not know that he is German?
There is no doubt that the halo was integral to saving Romain’s life. What amazes me is that as a fully frontal impact, and that the car penetrated the barrier, Grosjean didn’t sustain any lower body injuries. Thankfully he didn’t but I was certain that he would have broken his legs due to the impact and how the nose and front of the car disintegrated
So basically Grosjean killed himself but the work of the engineers prevented him beeing successful?
The marshal with an extinguisher behind the wall wasn't close enough to help much until after Grojean was already out, which might have actually helped a little, by not blowing the flames toward the cockpit.
Grosjean must have a guardian angel with him, he's been in a few crashes and caused a few. He seems a genuinely nice guy, maybe too nice for F1. Side visibility is poor in these cars, time for some type of HUD incorporated into the helmet visor, giving 360 visuals.
Great analysis.
Absolutely fantastic work from the marshalls, safety team, and doctors. Big fan of formula one, the prevention of tragic accidents is down to the FIA and obviously all the teams where safety is first,no point in being wise afterwards, to romain I wish you a very speedy recovery.
Fantastic analysis of a horrendous incident , well done for that insight Jolyon thank you fella ☝🏾
75% of the job was done by Grossjean himself.
No one discussing the track marshal's lack of knowing how to use fire equipment? You don't spray the top of the fire, you spray at the root. And you need to wait till you are actually at the fire before starting spraying. A bit of a refresher course is in order.
For the people who said that halos make the cars slower, this will teach them a lesson!!!
Amazing. Didn’t even singe his hair.
Would be interesting to tell us how the halo element helped Grosjean
That crash was so terrifying it makes me flinch and brings tears to my eyes. So glad to see Romain was okay.
Hi Jolyon, how did Grosjean's car end up facing the wrong way before going through the barrier, this was not explained.
Just amazy
So what we can learn from this is that french people cant drive
one thing I JUST noticed is that Magnussen actually let off as Grosjean went behind him, which could've influenced him reacting the way he did, cutting sharply into Kvyat who he wasn't able to see since he could've been mentally hung up on reacting to Magnussen
He was actually in there for about 28 seconds with a full safety suit. This is the same scenario as what happened to Paul Walker... His in there until the end of the fire burning his car
That is an unbelievable great analysis of a long ongoing chain reaction.
I'm just glad he didn't start with Grosjean's conception.
Thank you for sharing. Thank goodness he survived. One of the reasons I love F1 is for the technology, safety features included. I have seen the halo "likely" save drivers too many times to wonder why it wasn't always a thing. If it had only ever be put on one car in one instance, I am glad Romain had it on his car this night. As well the strength of the driver and the response of the safety crews,,,,, I am overtly inspired every day.
it was grosjean’s fault at the end of the day, pretty funny to say the least
That wall needs to go
This guy is insanely informational. If anything I am happy we have his insight if he is not on the track. Thank you Jolyon. I will always remember you as JoyCon. lolZ.
The medical car should have some sort of fire extinguisher in the cabin , they ran out to the car with nothing in hand. I’m thankful he’s OK but it was in evitable the way he runs into other cars on a regular basis.
That firefighter 7:50 seems to have proper training and bravery.......
Watching live, I was in tears
Great video
