  • Apologies if I have said this before, but IMHO Surtees was one of the most underrated champions. *Seven* bike GP world championships (only 2 less than Valentino Rossi!), including *three* consecutive doubles (ie both won in the same year - usually racing 2 or more bikes a day. Check out Agostini for his similar but even greater 2-wheeled career) in 350 & 500 CCs between '58-'60; *six* Isle of Man TT races (including the seniors), and an outstanding F1 driver & champion. 🏆 Yet, how often does he appear in any motorsports "top 10 list"? All of this was done during the incredibly dangerous period of the 50s-60s when he outlived many of his colleagues. I'm *so* glad he was mentioned in this list, but it's not a given that he ever will be mentioned again in any future list. Arguably one of the greatest motorsports competitors of all time given his wide-ranging successes. The saddest thing was him outliving his son, Henry, who had himself been showing a lot of promise, during this, the safest time so far to drive, but just before the halo which would most likely have saved him. 😢 Had John still been alive, you can be certain that he would have been ready, willing and able to comfort Antoine Hubert's grief-stricken family. 😣

  • Prost may have won that Monaco Grand Prix and kept Senna in second place, but that was an expensive victory for him. Because the race was stopped early they all got half points, four and a half for a win rather than nine. Second place would have got him six points, and he lost the championship that year by half a point... Had he let Senna win and taken second he'd have won the championship instead of Niki Lauda.

  • Why is Hamilton F1's most loved boy in every list? His debut was in a Bulletproof McLaren ffs. No hate, I like him but it was his dad that got him that seat.

    • Im sorry but he aint lando norris or lance stroll, hamilton proved himself a lot of times in the junior categorys. Also he still was a debut driver and getting podium was unbelievable.

      Tibor SterleTibor Sterle6 महीने पहले
  • How is Kimi not in this list? He had no experience at all, had only raced in 23 single seat racing. Peter Sauber signed him up, was considered a controversial signing. Finished 6th on his debut, signed up by Ron Dennis at Mclaren the next season.

    Arsalan NaqviArsalan Naqvi6 महीने पहले
  • Yep, that’s right : Hamilton’s breakthrough is making his debut straight in the best car of the grid already. I don’t mean to undermine his career or anything. I’m just being realistic in stating that THIS is the reason people tend not to have the same level of admiration for him. He did not have his « Monza 2008 » or « Monaco 1984 » moment. And I mean, good for him, AWESOME achievement making one’s debut straight in a McLaren! But I’m sure most people will understand what I mean. We all agree, he’s a phenomenal driver and McLaren made a genius move signing him. But the pure reality is : we’ll never know what he would be worth in a 2020 Alfa Romeo or 2020 Renault. Heck, we won’t even know how good he could be in a NUMBER 2 CAR for that matter... since he will never join Ferrari. For me, it also speaks VOLUMES about the abyssal gap there is between the #2 team (Ferrari) and #1 team (Mercedes FIA-Petronas, haha). When you see Vettel, a guy capable of winning with a 2008 Toro Rosso, struggling like hell for years with the 2nd best car of the grid...! Unless you are absolutely senseless.

  • Still clearly remember Italy 2008. I was on the Sunday at a friend’s birthday party and unfortunately missed the first half of the race. I managed to get home for the final half and remember my jaw dropped when the Toro Rosso won. From that day on Vettel became my favourite driver and a driver I still very much have as a one of my favourites.

  • Kobayashi in his first race in F1 at Brazil. It was supposed to be a one-off because he was a Toyota raised driver and they were retiring from the sport that year. No fear of sticking elbows even against title contender Button. I think that race alone got him a F1 seat the year after.
