  • Probably should have gone with the F2002, with which Michael never finished lower than *2nd*, and Rubens took to 4 wins, and 6 other podiums (5 2nds). And then Rubens got another two podiums, with another win for Michael as well the following season.

  • Based on numbers alone, the Mercedes W06 from 2015 is way up there. In my opinion it has the most impressive stats in comparison to its sister cars. The car was the natural evolution from the W05. It was the perfect blend of performance and reliability and it managed to surpass a lot records from its predecessor. True, it has less wins and poles than the Mercedes W07 from 2016 but the W06 shines in other major statistical categories where it beats some of the best F1 cars which were ever built. More importantly, it manages to beat them not only by numbers (which is much easier today due to many more races per season in recent years) but percentage-wise! --> The W06 had a record-breaking 12 1-2 finishes (aka the "perfect result"): that's a rate of 63.2% which beats the former record of the McLaren MP4-4 (10/16 1-2 finishes = 62.5%). --> The W06 had a record-breaking 15 front-row lockouts: that's a rate of roughly 79% which beats the MP4-4 yet again (12/16 front-row lockouts = 75%). Astonishingly, the W11 is able to threaten that record at the moment (11/13 = 84,6%). -> The W06 scored 703 points out of a possible 817: that's 86% of all points available, eclipsing the tally of the Ferrari F2004 (272/324 points = 84%) -> The W06 scored 32 podiums in 19 races (1 less than the W07 which had 2 more races available): That's a podium rate of 84.2%, beating the Ferrari F2004 yet again (30/36 podiums = 83,4%). The W06 gets rarely mentioned in debates (between the "performance monster" W05 and the "19 wins/20 poles" scoring W07) but it deserves a mention. 2015 was in my opinion the most boring V6 hybrid season. Sure, that was also because Lewis ran away with the title in the same way Schumacher did in his prime. However, the crushing dominance of the W06 also played a major role in this. For newer fans, HAM-BOT-VER is basically the sequel of the notorious HAM-ROS-VET ;)

  • Number of race wins means nothing as the seasons are much longer than they used to be. Number of titles are probably more accurate reflection of ability while Schumacher arguably could have added 3 more to his tally had certain things gone his way while Hamilton could add one more from 2007. Both are Goats but imo Schumacher is still the bigger Goat 🐐

  • “Schumacher would still have had more assistance” BS Hamilton had the assistance of no competition, the assistance of an unbeatable engine thanks to the engine rules. All the other teams are STILL playing catch-up to Mercedes in the engine department while Merc are working on aero and other mechanical solutions like DAS. He “titles” are so much easier to win and probably feel pretty hollow I would imagine. Imagine only having to beat Bottas and Rosberg (a combined total of 1 world championships between them to get 6 titles, while no other team is even in contention for the world title 🤣

  • There are 11 circuits that have been used by both generation of cars. Current generation cars have 6 overall lap records and EVERY single overall track record in these 11 circuits. Japanese Grand Prix lap record Belongs to Hamilton 1:30.983 Brazil Grand Prix lap record belongs to Bottas in 2019 with 1:10..54 Canadian Grand Prix lap record to Botas with 1:13.078 Hungary Grand Prix lap record Hamilton in 2020 with 1:16.627 Monaco Grand Prix ... - Max with1:14..260 Nurburing lap record goes to Max from a few weeks ago 1:28.139 However.. I do prefer the look and sound of the V 10 cars. Thing of beauty to see and HEAR. But facts are facts. These generation cars have more sophisticated technology and down force which helps them race around the circuit very quickly. Fast enough to have every single overall track record

    Don GonzalesDon Gonzalesमहीने पहले
    • Special thanks to Alex Mallinson who tried to trick/convince us that V 10 cars had ALL track records. This statement had to be investigated and was shown to be untrue. Straight line... I could be wrong but I give the edge to V 10s. However around a formula one circuit with sharp turns...slow turns... short stratights...long straights... it appears that current cars are a bit faster. Problem....current tires dont seem to be all that great. They kind of stink actually. Consequently, current drivers are not able to race to full max speed for each and every lap. They have to pace themselves for much of the race. They have to conserve their tires. But apparently this is partly attributed to incredible downforce that is featured in modern formula one cars. A major handicapping issue for today's formula one cars definitely appears to be the tires. In Imola just a few days ago...Mercedes did not even want to use the faster soft tires because they simply don't hold up to 20 laps when pushed. Not on the Mercedes W 11 at any rate. Sad....

  • Amazing what Hamilton has achieved, but there are also a lot more races on the calendar for Hamilton.

    Anthony AldousAnthony Aldousमहीने पहले
    • @Anthony Aldous The field is LESS competitive NOW. Not because the drivers are worse, but the cars limit driver talent. Look at the era of Mansell, Senna, Prost and Piquet. ANY one if them could win as THEY were driving, not their cars. Yes, in a particular season, Williams could be better than the other 2 or 3, but then another season Ferrari could be a disaster or McLaren very strong. At the end of the day, it was the DRIVER doing most if not all of the winning etc, unlike today's era, where the best car wins.

      CHR 15CHR 152 दिन पहले
    • I agree in principle that the field is more competitive. And unlike Schumacher Hamilton must accept a challenge from his teammate. However, other than team mate who is his challenger? Sure someone can win a race, but over a season not really. Yes super powered Ferrari did before loophole closed, Max had some good times. Hamilton has done a great job and to be commended, and glad he has achieved such success. Always the challenge comparing drivers of different generations. One thing for sure, Schumacher a legend of the Sport, as is Hamilton. They can only beat whoever is there in the equipment their skill can earn them, plus tallent and a bit of luck.

But there are still so many likes for this video. Is the bar for quality journalism really so low for most of the people? They have no standards. • All in good but imagine if the development of the 2004 was continued. The weight advantage and the smaller more nimble characteristics of the V10 car would massively outperform the cars of today. It really is comparing apples to giraffes. F1 development never stops. The current engine is still being enhanced while the old V10s have been dead for over 12 years! When you really look at things this comparison actually signifys how great the V10s actually were. As its been in only the last two years that ALL of the V10 lap times have been broken.

Taking into account the F2011B competed in the first two races of the 2002 season, 17 races in total. The F2004 in 2004 won 15 of 18 races (83.33%) in one season. Let's go back 18 years to the most dominant Ferrari/Schumacher/one season combo! Top Dog - Mclaren MP4-4 , 15/16 race wins (93.75%).

Just look at the top view, the 2020 car looks slimmer (due to its length) than the F2004 even if the mercedes is actually 20cm wider. the size difference is really dramatic, that alone is a major factor in weight increase

Compared to Mercedes mentality you are free to race until you do something stupid then they will place rules. Those rules would be who ever qualified in front got the preferred strategy. You can’t say the same for Ferrari.

  • it is difficult to compare them but where hamilton definitely beats schumacker is consistency. Hamilton is an amazing driver and will go on to beat shumackers record. You also have to remember that the ferrari car back then was just as dominant as the mercedes car is now. They are pretty close in ability but i believe that hamilton takes the edge on this one.
