Brendon Hartley: The Unluckiest F1 Driver Ever? Ft. @Josh Revell

Brendon Hartley's short-lived F1 career was rather forgettable to say the least. That was, of course, until now. He's had so much success in other premier motorsports, but just not in F1 - but why?

  • This reminds me of JJ Lehto. Good driver in 90s with lot of bad luck with Benetton. But after F1 he won two times at Le Mans. Also Takuma Sato comes to mind. Not that impressive F1 career but two times Indy 500 winner

  • I'm from New Zealand. And yes his father does have motorsport background. He is the owner of Hartley race engines. Which is the main engine used in New Zealand speedway stockcars and superstocks. He works along side Peter Rees from rees race cars to build these cars. And is the most successful stockcar and superstock builder in New Zealand. With over 400 stockcars and 200 superstocks in New Zealand. Is not a small time sport. Look up New Zealand superstock teams. And you will see how busy he can get especially on teams weekend.

  • There are 2 types of people in motor sports. The first person is a person who goes out there and tries to make their dreams become a reality. They drive in all sorts of categories to gain enough experience to hopefully make it into F1. Some succeed, some don't. Notice that I didn't use the word fail? That's because, if you have made it to F1 then you definitely have not failed no matter how well you perform once you get there. The 2nd person can be considered a failure. They have never driven in any category. Their only experience in motorsports is playing video games and watching videos. Their only claim to fame is making these videos, criticizing those who have actually taken the time and effort to try and live their dreams. The very fact that they target drivers who's machinery is barely capable of scoring points, let alone competing for wins and championship shows me that their is an element of jealousy rather than admiration for their ability to make the grid. In Hartley's case, it tells me that if you put a talented driver into a competitive car, his talent can thrive in his 2 wins in the most prestigious race in all of motorsport. How about making a video highlighting these achievements instead of criticizing his efforts in a series where his chances of having success is basically determined before he even sits in the car? Just some food for thought.

    TheLukie222TheLukie222महीने पहले
    • You realise that this video was talking in a positive manner about Hartley right? I love him and I wish he got a second chance. Also, that's pretty hurtful to generalise me like that - I've done Karting, play sports all the time and I only make these videos for fun. Why would I have mentioned his Le Mans success if I really wanted to criticise him? Please, just make sure you've watched the video before you comment something like this - I'm speaking on behalf of all creators here when I say that this kind of comment is the worst kind to receive.

He had awesome drives in Mexico, USA and Brazil that I dont know why were pretty much unotified by most, and many times he had first lap incident being held on by the carnage in front of him or crashed on in many races like Melbourne, Abu Dhabi, Monza, Canada...

And you think he deserves a second chance? He had about 20... you said in the video he was reserve, leaves, reserve again, leaves again and so on. He's like a 14 year old girl that splits up with her boyfriend, finds someone esle, but then goes back... multiple times. And if he really is behind Ferrari's strategies like you say, it really doesn't help your cause, at all. He is just a mediocre driver (at best), a bad strategist and worst of all a crybaby. All his interviews in 2018 he was complaining how bad it's going for him and he is such a good driver. Yeah... right. Dream on.
