  • FYI, pressure cookers work by raising the boiling point of water so the temperature rises also

    SuperLordHawHawSuperLordHawHaw5 दिन पहले
    • Also , steam has an extremely high thermal transfer rate, so that elevated temperature transfers to the food very quickly as compared to, say, dry conventional baking of a similar temperature ( around 220F)

  • Thank you for making these videos!!!! I had a question for you/anyone else that can answer: I took your advice and tried to make a dessert last night in my instant pot (rather than cooking a full meal). It was a complete, and utter, fail! Do you have any recipes or just foolproof things to make to help me get my confidence back up? I'm really a terrible cook, which is why I thought the instant pot would be so helpful....but now I feel like I might be bad at using this appliance as well? Any help is appreciated!

  • Did she say the reason a presure cooker works is because it squeezes the flavor in?, I thought it was because water when heated under pressure has a higher boiling point so instead of cooking the food at 212 degrees, it could as high as about 240 at 15 psi. . . but then I'm just a welder, that owns 4 Presto pressure cookers.

  • Well for those people born after 1970 this is a New Fangled Contraption just like your granny used on the stove top that was in that 12 quart aluminum pot with that rattling thing'a'ma"jig on it and had that 2" round pressure gauge that granny would cook a summers month's of groceries in to save for the next winter's storage.

  • For once after opening the box of an unfamiliar and new gadget, I read the instructions, this time. I found out that most of the buttons are fake. Now, I just let it do its thing. So "saute" is preheat. Cool tip! Thanks, I'll try that next. The analogy I shared with people is, don't take the radiator cap off your car when you just got off the freeway. Wait for 30 minutes.

  • I love you soooooo much, grateful I found you you are a godsend! I now have three Instant Pots, love love love them, I have been using two 6 qt's and recently bought the 10 qt because I cook for my critters in bulk. I have been using these for about a year now, started with a stove top pressure cooker and it exploded sending it in the air crashing down to my floor I still find chicken bits in my kitchen from this and it scared me to death. I was totally hesitant to purchase the Instant Pot from that experience, I am grateful I did and now after time I now totally trust these and only buy this brand! I have not been able to find add'l insert pots for the 10 qt even on Instant Pot's site, if someone can direct me where to buy another one, I like to have backups I would be grateful. Love to you and everyone!

  • I Love my Duo Nova Instant Pot 8 quart automatically Seals itself for pressure cooking when you close the lid. When you mentioned the “Sauté” button, I wish you’d mentioned the need to Deglaze the pot before you set it for Pressure Cook after you brown meat, etc. That is something I did not find in the Instruction manual and I’m SO glad you mentioned it in your 26 don’t do video. I do have a tip that really works to keep the liner of the IP beautifully clean and shiny! When you have food or a residue on the bottom, you can do this to clean it.. add 3 or 4 cups of water and pressure cook on high for 5 minutes. Then as soon as you quick release the pressure, take the lid off and add a few drops of dish soap and stir with a spoon and let it sit in the IP until it’s cool enough to clean. I don’t clean my Liner in my Dishwasher, as I like to hand clean it. But also if you have pressure cooked something over water on the trivet.. it leaves the water mineral residue and for that, when the Liner is warm (Not Hot) pour out the water and add about a cup of Vinegar and let it sit for about 5 minutes, then wash as normal. You won’t believe how clean and shiny it gets. Thanks and I hope this helps.

  • I'm just gonna say this in case anyone else is concerned. DO NOT use your bare hand to release the pressure please. You don't have any way of knowing if the thing will spurt this time or not. Sometimes it does, and sometimes it doesn't. I got a small but very painful 2nd degree burn from doing a quick release with my hand instead of using a spoon. it could have been a lot worse. Just use something with a longer handle please.

  • I am a LONG TIME 😉 pressure cooker user, beginning with the old stove top models to the Instant Pot. I believe your channel is a real bonus to new pressure cooker users. The advantage to using an electric pressure cooker like the Instant Pot, which minimizes the need to constantly monitor the pot and pressure, (as compared to the stovetop models) is significant. Often, directions that come with a new appliance are minimal and do not include tips and tricks, so watching your step-by-step instructions (from basic use to cleaning) can greatly minimize any intimidation about the use of the Instant Pot for a new user. As a "seasoned" user of pressure cookers, I too have enjoyed a few of your suggestions regarding such things as controlling the SAUTE button, turning off the sound if desired, etc. I have saved links to your channel to share with any new Instant Pot users in my large family.👍 Thank you.
